April 17, 2012 – Somewhere in Asia-this is awesome!
Our team in (undisclosed in Asia) has many people involved right now as seekers or new Christians in English studies and Bible studies. God is good and doing many good things in China. XXX went to a house church baptism ceremony recently where over 250 people were baptized. He recognized about one third who had been influenced or in studies with members of our team.

April 12, 2012 – Update
Natural disasters open doors for Christ love to be shown in these regions. M gives every ¼ inch of her five foot frame to presenting Christ to her countrymen. Please lift her and SE Asia up in prayer.

Following Jesus. In Community. For Others.
These some prayer needs:
1. please pray for Mr. R , the principal of a boarding school and an orphanage with 220 children. He said they are saved but some of the kids feel trauma and arescared. Please pray for God’s protection and healing from the trauma for them. Their dormitory’s building went down 5 cm depth to the ground. Pray that God save him and his family as well as all the kids. There is no electricity because of the disaster. Pray that God will provide them with a generator .
2. Please pray for my mother she is not well and just released from hospital, please pray for the perfectly healing of her heart, kidneys and lung. She was hospitalized in intensive care unit because of lung infection and the functions of her kidneys and heart are decreased because of her age. Right now my family is taking care of her in our house. She is getting better now. But the doctor said her heart can be dropped anytime and she will need the pacemaker for that. Please pray that God will heal her perfectly that she does not need pacemaker anymore.
I just finished doing some ministries with Pastor Bill Myers. The church that he was pastored in many years ago had a celebration for anniversary of his ministry for 50 years.
Once again thank you so much for all of your kindness to me. I have been blessed by all of you in Pathway Church. I am so grateful to God for that.
May God bless you greatly.
Blessings,
M

Westlink partners with several ministries in countries where being a Christ-follower is illegal or highly dangerous. Please do not disseminate these reports even though we have edited to protect location and identify. The stories told can be duplicated across the world with only names and locations being changed. Continue to pray for the missionaries living in inhospitable and dangerous cultures. M.
“For the past couple of years we’ve been helping children’s homes plant their own rice. Now we’re teaching kids to be fish farmers and grow their own plants and vegetables in a re-circulating, closed system called aquaponics. We’re currently helping with a test system and trying to collect data to use in the development of a sustainable model for other homes.
“It was a blessing to have visitors recently who helped us build this aquaponics system …. It took a surprising amount of rock to fill these barrels, so I was very glad to have help!”
Mr. J., team leader, shared this update about a recent relief project in a village devastated by a volcano blast in ….:
“…, students, staff and family members from the … rode a bus for … hours to C, a village on the southern slopes of (the volcano), to assist villagers with further cleanup from the volcano eruption. The team was divided into groups for several different tasks, including making cinder blocks to rebuild homes, constructing a public bathroom facility, clearing rubble, and planting fruit trees. While most villagers were evacuated ahead of the major eruptions, (hundreds of ) people were killed and most homes completely blown down or burned beyond repair. The riverbeds, where tons of sand and rocks were washed down, are still steaming with hot thermal water, nearly six months after the event.”
“I did get a chance to sit down with a group of …church planters) as they talked about the struggles they are having with micro-enterprise projects that work. They are very industrious, and so far have tried raising rabbits, mushrooms, goats, cattle, cell phone vouchers, and gasoline by the liter on high mountain roads where there are no gas stations. Another has tried selling various spare parts for motorcycles distributed to a number of cycle repair shops. One man’s wife is cooking around 150 donuts every night that they distribute to various locations the next morning. All of these enterprises have met with mixed results. Many are frustrated since their training has been in ministry and they don’t feel they have good minds for business, but they continue to persevere in their ministries. We will continue to try to help them find ways to earn a living apart from the little they get from the churches they serve.”

Mr. D., a team leader, shares these thoughts about change and renewal:
“In some ways we here in (a)… nation are accustomed to change, but in other ways we are not. … however accustomed we think we are to change, it still seems to take us by surprise more times than not. During the last two years we have been, as a group, focused on community development in urban poor communities around our city. Although we received much support and interest from locals, the ultimate voice is the government. We had been working toward (legal recognition to) give us the ability to impact more kids and communities. However, during our last (efforts we were told it would not happen.) This was a hard blow, especially when the thoughts of change started to set in: change in how we approach the communities, how we interact with others, and how we do what we were called to do.
“Despite the difficulty of changes and disappointments, we have started the process of renewing our focus, drive and initiative. We have been reminded not to overlook the relationships right in front of us. We are working on renewing a commitment to share with our neighbors, co-workers, and classmates. We have also been exploring more creative ways to continue our community development projects and programs without an organization. This has allowed us to also have a renewal of encouragement and energy for the work and people here. Throughout the last couple months of change we as a team have been blessed with a myriad of encouraging events. We have seen signs of fruit that have helped us stay focused on the prize. Please join us in thinking about the coming months with new opportunities to approach the work here in creative ways.”

May, 2011 – News item
INDONESIA. Shariah Law is gaining ground. The Indonesians are now aware of what is happening. I have included 2 clips from the Jakarta Post newspaper from Indonesia:
Sheldon, Probolinggo, East Java … Yes Edo E, but we know that the government is not serious about addressing the problem, otherwise they would forbid Shariah Law and remove any serious religious influence from the government. Talk is cheap. Never going to happen …
Mike, Jeddah … Under SBY’s (President) limp administration and the most pathetic group of people in Indonesia, the silent majority Indonesia is now on the path to becoming an Islamic state, just look at all the Shariah-based laws introduced by pathetic little grubby provincial authorities trying to secure votes. Shariah by stealth, wake up Indonesia before it is too late …

Notes from update from one of our missionaries:
… the economic temperature seems very good compared to many other nations. Indonesia registered a 6% growth this last year. The push for Sharia Law is still growing. There is still the evidence of the jihad, but we know God is in control.
… praying daily for a breakthrough regarding our proposal requesting free programs for receiver units placed in villages. Our patience level is being attacked by our ‘anxiety. Help Lord.
