Northern Africa-Gus & Kris

April 9, 2012 – BIG NEWS!

Dear Partners,
This is just a quick note to let you know that we are expecting another baby!!!  We haven’t been in to see the Dr. yet as he has been on vacation, but hopefully sometime later this week he will have a slot available, and after that we may have a better idea of the due date.

Right now we are looking into the possibility of having the baby either here in Melilla or in Malaga (across the Mediterranean in mainland Spain), rather than needing to travel so far again for the birth.  It looks like this is now doable since some nationality laws have changed recently and our insurance should cover this here with no problems.  So, that option would really simplify things for us as a family this time around, since we don’t have the funds to travel to Chile or the U.S., and long trips with little ones are so hard on everyone!

Please pray with us for:
• A good first appointment with the doctor sometime in the next week or two.
• Good health for the baby and for Karissa, who has been suffering from morning sickness and fatigue.
• Strength for Gus as he is fixing up our new locale and getting the paperwork done, while also helping Kris with Jeremy & Liz when she is not feeling well.
• Wisdom in deciding the details of where to have the baby.
• God’s provision for the ministry and our family.

Thank you for your ongoing prayers and financial support!

Blessings, Gus, Kris, Jeremy, Liz & ???

March, 2012 – News Update

Dear Friends & Family,

Please watch our latest ministry update in video form.  We hope you enjoy it and are encouraged by what is going on here in Melilla!

This month, please pray for:
- Our health as a family. We have all been sick with the flu on and off for the past three weeks and haven’t been able to recover 100% yet.
- All of the steps needed to get the new facility up and running, and for the funds to accomplish that.
- Potential long-term teammates with a desire to join this new project in Melilla and giftings that would fit the vision.
- New monthly supporters to help us stay on top of both our family and ministry expenses.
- The national friends we continue to share with regularly.  Pray for good opportunities to keep speaking the truth into their lives and to model Christ’s love.

To give a one-time gift or to join our monthly support team, here is our mission’s online donation form.

If you would rather send a gift through regular mail, please make checks payable to:
IberoAmerican Ministries
P.O. Box 1493
Monroe, WA 98272

And please designate checks to “Project: Guevara – N. Africa”.

Thank you for your faithful support!

August – Prayer Requests

Dear Partners,
“We are approaching the end of Ramadan. Many Muslims will be most open to God. Please fervently pray for the Truth to be revealed to them.  May they be able to connect with believers.”

We wanted to ask you to join us in a very specific prayer request:

In a conversation today, Aziza, one of Karissa’s friends, shared that she wishes she could have enough faith to see the heavens open tomorrow night.  You see, tomorrow is the Muslim “Night of Power”, a special night where they believe the most faith-filled could see the heavens open and their prayer requests will be granted.  Karissa shared that the Bible says that faith comes by hearing the Word of God and told her that she would pray for Aziza specifically that God would speak to her in a new personal way, giving her a new revelation of Himself in these next couple of days.

Please join us in fervent prayer today and tomorrow, that the Lord Jesus would reveal Himself personally to Aziza, and that the Spirit would break through the barriers in her heart and mind, according to His will.  May Aziza, and many other Muslim friends around the world anxiously waiting for the heavens to open, come to know the One True God who has already bridged that gap for us!

Thank you for joining with us in bringing this before our Father!

In Him,
Gus & Kris

May 27, 2011 – Morocco Update

We want to thank you and the whole family at Westlink for your faithful support over these years.  This has been a challenging year for us as a family and it is impossible to understate the importance of knowing that there are groups and individuals who are constantly lifting us up before the Throne. Thank you for being such an important part of this ministry in North Africa.

Mon, February 21, 2011 Peticion de Oracion/Prayer Request

As unrest spreads across Africa and Asia we are assured that God is control.  However, we can lift up our brothers and sister in the faith asking for safety, courage, steadfastness, wisdom and increased trust in our Father. We can ask that God will be glorified throughout these events and in the aftermath.

Our N African missionaries have sent this request for prayers for friends in a rioting city in Morocco.

Dear Partners and Friends,

Just a quick note to let you know that we were just about ready to send out our latest update mentioning, among other things, that “the studio is functional in its new location and that we are starting the recording of the book of John in the local language…”, but today we received this email from our supervisor:

“Dear fellow burden bearers in this work.

I just heard from Betel that they sold the house where the studio is.

The good news is that the Lord has something better for us.

The bad news is that we have perhaps 1-2 months before we need to clear out of the studio casita, and the radio antenna placement plan is off for now.

They’ll apprise me of information about when we need to vacate, when they have it.   It looks like we’ll have enough time to finish current recording projects.”

Please pray that we’d have the time to finish the recording of John (which starts tomorrow) since it would be a great evangelistic tool for the summer distribution across the region, and also that we could get a building soon, where a stable studio would be set up for media that will continue to bless the Rif-Berbers.

Thank you for your care and support!  We’ll be sending our update letter with more news in just a few days, so you’ll hear from us again soon.

In His Name,

G & K in N Africa
