April 4, 2012 – Aradhna, Nathan to Afghanistan

“Amazing–Singing with a feel is what caught my heart.” “It was totally beautiful.” These are comments from the Aradhna concert.

We had a super time with Nathan! He left yesterday for Afghanistan. A special delight was to be with all of our “children,” their spouses and children (except one daughter-in-law, grandson, and to-be-born grandchild), and Sherida’s parents for a day. Again we are so appreciative of your prayers!!!
In His love,
Mark and Sherida Gray

March 3, 2012 – Prayer update

Sherida and I have been traveling along a most remarkable year as we have journeyed with Jesus through the last 12 plus months. Each week we pray that someone from the int’l student community will experience Christ’s love. In the first 35 weeks of our current school year that has happened to 37 individuals. We have been privileged to travel internationally and connect with students and their families in their home countries, and the list of divine appointments and adventures just goes on and on.

A major challenge of the last year has been financial. We have received a lot of short checks because our ISI ministry account balance was too low. In the Fall Sherida and I began a focused, prayerful effort to find an additional $3,000/month in new support.  Good News! This support is now in place. Join us in praising the Lord!

We still have one financial need to address. Because of short checks throughout 2011, we have depleted the basic ministry account balance. We need $7,500 in one-time gifts to restore our cash flow. Please join us in asking God to bring the right provision.

One other area of praise, our son Nathan has been in Kuwait with the Army reserves for the last several months.  He was scheduled for two weeks of R&R at Spring Break. However, he was deployed to Afghanistan a couple weeks ago, and his R&R was postponed. We prayed. God answered! Nathan’s new supervisors in Afghanistan reinstated his Spring Break R&R. We expect to have him home for the last half of this month. Praise the Lord and never underestimate prayer.

February 23, 2012 – Peter, Nathan

As a family we are delighted with the safe arrival of Peter Isaiah (7#, 2 oz., 19 1/2 in.), Anna and David Dorner’s 5th child! He is healthy and strong…a wonderful answer to our prayers.

Our son Nathan arrived yesterday in Afghanistan. He had been in Kuwait and was scheduled to come home for Spring Break and join the family gathering. However, his plans were changed. Please pray for his safety and morale.

With gratitude for your love and prayers,
Mark and Sherida Gray

October 26, 2011 – Family news

Some have asked about our family (photo attached). Anna and her family live on the west side of Wichita. She and her husband David are homeschooling and expecting their fifth child in February. Caleb and his wife Whitney are in Kansas City. She works at the Nazarene college, and Caleb is looking for a new electrical engineering job. Enoch is a pastor in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He and his wife Andrea have a one-year-old, Elliott. Luke is serving with Cru for one year as an intern. Esther is a senior at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri. Nathan is serving in the Middle East with the Army Reserves. Josiah is a freshman at Butler. Abigail is a junior and Hosanna is a sophomore in high school. One friend said, “You must need a spreadsheet to keep track of your family.” :-) They are a joy!

September 8, 2011 – Family news

On the homefront, Nathan arrived in the Middle East last Tuesday. We would appreciate your prayers for God’s work in and through his life as a medic. Re: our finances since we wrote last, 11% of the needed amount has come in/been pledged. Thanks for praying.

In Christ’s love,
Mark and Sherida Gray

August 23, 2011 – Dilemma

We are in a dilemma. We are in the midst of an exciting ministry time and yet we need to scale back our involvement. We are in need of faithful, monthly financial partners. We have received 4 short checks this year. Please pray that God will direct us to those He wants involved financially so we can again focus more directly on students. Thanks!

In Christ’s love,
Mark and Sherida Gray

August 10, 2011 – Summer gathering

The LORD gave us wonderful interactions with the 90 int’l students and American Friendship Partners at the picnic. Volleyball, frisbee, softball, and table games brought various combinations of students and American friends together. Two students did an excellent job of explaining their spiritual journeys. At least 5 of the Chinese students who attended the Real Leadership Retreat last January were there. Everyone seemed to have a super time, even though it was quite hot.
